FKA twigs curates Meltdown 2027, and headlines it herself

Meltdown has been handing its programme to one artist a year since 1993, and the thirty-second name is FKA twigs. The Southbank Centre announced her on 21 October: she picks the acts, and she plays a one-off headline show of her own during the festival.
When
Thursday 10 to Sunday 20 June 2027 — eleven days across the Southbank Centre's halls, with dozens of concerts and two weekends of free events, in the venue's own words.
What she has said
Her statement promises "a slice of all that has raised me and continues to inspire me" — London's club and art undergrounds, where she started, and the collision of cultures she credits for the city's music.
What is not announced
The line-up and the details of her headline show come in spring 2027. Nothing is on sale yet; the Southbank Centre's gigs newsletter is the channel it points to for first word.
The curator is the whole festival at Meltdown — David Bowie's 2002 edition and Grace Jones's in 2022 are remembered for who they invited, not for the venue. Twigs came up through the London club scene, so expect a programme heavy on the collectives and producers who shaped her, rather than a run of established names. The practical note: Meltdown's biggest shows sell out on the day of announcement, so the spring line-up is the date to watch, not June.
